Since 1974, native athletes across Canada have been competing in a national softball competition called the “Canadian Native National Fastball Championships”. This event has become one of Canada’s most prestigious sporting events in native communities attracting 1100 athletes and approximately 5,000 visitors annually.

Every year, corporations spend millions of dollars on cause-related marketing and event sponsorships. Traditionally these games have been funded entirely by First Nation / Metis communities and organizations but several hosting communities have successfully negotiated partnerships with government and industry.
